a cool WDT

Most WDT tools just poke around in the grounds and hope for the best. This one works to a pattern. The needles sit on geared carriers, so one turn of the ring sweeps them along overlapping spiral paths that never retrace the same line. Eight turns and the entire basket has been worked through.

That's the point of the thing. Water is lazy, and if the grounds are clumped on one side it finds the loose channel and runs straight through, pulling hard from one patch and barely touching the rest. Even distribution takes that shortcut away, so the water has to move through the whole bed at one rate.

Good to know

Because each tool is cut to your portafilter, yours won't match the photos down to the millimetre. The mechanism is the same; the basket diameter and depth are what change.

These are 3D printed, so you may find small cosmetic marks from the print process. Every unit is inspected by hand before it ships, and anything that would affect how it works doesn't leave the workshop.
